Personal Information


Marguerite Walter has practiced international law for over 10 years and has been teaching international commercial arbitration and international investment arbitration at Georgetown since 2011. In private practice, she specialized in investment disputes, handling claims before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), including claims asserted under the Dominican Republic-Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), as well as disputes brought under the rules of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Ms. Walter is currently an Attorney-Adviser in the Office of the Legal Adviser in the U.S. Department of State, where she has advised on various matters of public international law, including state-to-state claims arising under treaties; international investment disputes;and customary international law; and negotiation of international agreements. She is fluent in French.
