Personal Information


Jeffrey D. Schneider is the Executive Vice President, Worldwide Business Affairs and Operations, for National Geographic Channels.  He is responsible for all business dealings of the company, including negotiations of entertainment deals and the day-to-day operations of NatGeo's suite of TV channels.  He had previously been the chief legal officer of National Geographic Partners, the commercial media holding company of National Geographic.  He is based in Washington, D.C. after previously spending his entire professional career in Los Angeles.  Prior to National Geographic, Prof. Schneider held senior positions at Paramount Pictures Television, MTV, Fox TV Studios, A&E Networks (A&E and Lifetime), NBCUniversal (Bravo, Oxygen and Telemundo) and Endemol-Shine.  Prior to his in-house career, Prof. Schneider was an associate at the entertainment law firms Slaff, Mosk & Rudman and Katz, Golden & Sullivan.  Prof. Schneider has previously served as an adjunct professor of business and economics at the Carnegie-Mellon University Heinz Graduate School of Management and has held adjunct positions teaching entertainment law at the University of Southern California and Pepperdine Schools of Law.  He has spoken at more than two dozen seminars, symposia and panels (including for GEMA) and has served on the USC Entertainment Law Symposium syllabus committee.  Professor Schneider holds a J.D. from the University of Southern California (1991, with honors, law review), as well as a B.A. in Communication Studies from UCLA (1987, cum laude).  He began his legal career in 1991 as a Law Clerk to the Chief U. S. District Court Judge for the District of Nevada, the Hon. Edward C. Reed, Jr.  He is married with three children and is a voting member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
