Personal Information


Professor Berlin is a partner at Ballard Spahr LLP. He has represented clients in First Amendment, defamation, privacy, access, reporter's privilege, copyright, and trademark disputes for more than twenty-five years. His clients include television and radio networks and station owners, cable television networks, production companies, national and local newspapers, magazine publishers, websites, and specialty publications. He also regularly represents advocacy groups and political organizations in enforcing and defending their First Amendment rights.  Professor Berlin is a co-author of Newsgathering and the Law (Lexis Law Publishing 4th ed. 2011, with L. Levine, R. Lind and C.T. Dienes) and has testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on "Cameras in the Courtroom."
