WTO Studies Certificate

Georgetown Law’s Institute of International Economic Law (IIEL) offers J.D. and LL.M. students the opportunity to pursue a World Trade Organization (WTO) Studies Certificate as a complement to the student's degree program.   WTO Certificate students study with globally recognized WTO experts; author a research paper on cutting-edge matters of WTO law and policy; attend relevant IIEL events throughout the academic year; and engage in one or more capstone experiences including WTO moot court competitions and practical training under supervisory experts, addressing real-world legal and policy challenges on behalf of actual beneficiaries.  Note that Georgetown does not admit students solely to pursue the WTO Studies Certificate; rather, the Certificate is designed to be undertaken in conjunction with one's degree program.  To receive the WTO Certificate, students must complete all Certificate and degree requirements.  Successful WTO Certificate candidates have gone on to win prestigious post-graduate internships and other positions in multiple WTO divisions, private practice and on behalf of governments active in WTO dispute settlement.
The WTO Studies Certificate is available to students enrolled in a Law Center LL.M. program. Please note that J.D. students are not eligible for the Certificate program. The Law Center will not admit students solely for the WTO Studies Certificate program.
